Day 2 ::Scarlet Lime Give Away:: 25 Days of Christmas

First, a moment of silence...I posted several weeks ago about a dear friend's daughter who was battling cancer. We had a Tye-Dye for Ry day where the community showed support by wearing something that was tie-dye. I am very sad to say that Ryleigh passed away yesterday morning. Thanks to those of you who posted in support of her. She was a fighter and she will be missed, but she has made me a better person just by her strength and amazing kindness.

*sigh* as hard as it is to go on, life does. I LOVED hearing about the different traditions. Thanks to those who posted. Here's mine...
Every since we were younger, my family has drawn names for each other since we're such a large family. AS we grew older and got married, we would do it as a family. IT seemed like it got harder each year to get families gifts and I think it's because we felt like we all had what we needed so we couldn't offer much in the way of suggestions. I don't even remember who it was but someone suggested that instead of buying gifts for each other, we should pick a family in need and use the money we would've spent on each other, on them! We have been doing this for several years now and I love that it's a small way to teach my own children about service and compassion...the meaning of this time of year gets lost sometimes (I am guilty of this myself), so this very simple act of kindness is one tradition that I look forward to every year!

Now for the winner of DAY 1's drawing...

That would be...CONGRATS! I will be in touch! :)

I am sooo excited about today's give-away not just because of WHAT it is, but also because of WHO the sponsor is!! Being digital scrappers, many of you may not know of this business, but it's time you did!! LOL.
Meet Scarlet Lime
And meet MY SISTER Christy Tomlinson and her husband, Ben...the faces behind this VERY successful monthly scrapbooking kit club.
Paper scrapbooking is where I got my start...in fact it was Christy who got me hooked. She would send me all kinds of free stuff back in the day when she worked for Chatterbox Inc. For me, it was just as much about the creating as it was about the documentation of my family's lives. Eventually, I became a Design Team member for Chatterbox, which led to many doors being opened for me. Of course, I'm now a digi gal, but there is still a part of me that loves the feel of the paper and picking out embellishments and playing with ribbon.

Today, however, it's not their scrapbooking business that is being sponsored, but a NEW venture they've just begun. The thing that I love about this new part of their business is that, although it's very different from scrapbooking, it's still very much about creating something to be proud of and something to keep for many years. Artists use many mediums for creative outlets and this is just one more way to explore your creativity. Today, I want you to embrace your inner artist and tell me what you LOVE to create, aside from the usual digital layout. What's the prize if you win??

Check it out:

They call it WatchArt...not only is it creative and beautiful, it's practical. One lucky winner today will get to pick out a watch face and bead kit to create their own beautiful time keeper.

I don't think I could pick JUST one...I need them all (so good luck to the winner! LOL!). I just may have a new addiction to recover from soon.

So here's how to win: 1. Post a comment about other things that you love to create (aside from digital layouts). Some examples might be that you like to bead, paint, create cards, stamp, cook...there are sooo many ways to be creative!! Let's hear it!

You only get one chance to win today, but I'd say if you DON'T win, you still need to buy one! Seriously. Art you can wear. What's not to love about that??!! OH and if you sign up for their monthly scrapbooking kit, I'll never tell anyone that you went to the "other" side. heehee.. ;)

See you tomorrow!
Leora

cool watch art!
I love to create stained glass windows but it's not something I get to do these days :( It's expensive and not very child friendly.

I really enjoy photography and graphic design...does that count as un-digi? :-) I also love modeling clay, and many times get carried away with the kids....little flowers out of modeling clay..so cute!!

I love to create stuff with my daughters - I love doing kids craft! They have grown up getting in and getting messy! Now I am working and they are at school we don't get to do it so often - I really miss it....

So sorry about your friend's passing.

I crochet beads onto bobby socks for the newborn little girls and my toddler nieces.

I discovered hybrid last year and I'm slowing picking up some paper scrapbooking tools! I wish I had the time to do embroidery but there's no way I can fit it in now..

I am very sorry to hear about your friends passing, may she rest in peace.

I am a digi and traditional scrapper so yes I have heard of scarlet lime, who hasn't....lol! I had no idea she was your sister, what a small world.

My favorite thing to do right now is mixed media canvases, I have been having the time of my life playing with different media's and not being restricted to the computer. Thank you for the chance! xo

I really enjoy photography and photo editing as well as sewing. Sewing for me is so rewarding...when you have completed a project and you look at it and can say you made it! I think that is so rewarding :)

Oh my, those watches are gorgeous! What do I love to create... so many things really, but the most important is a home that showcases our family and all that we hold dear and welcomes our friends and loved ones. I wish there were more hours in the day to complete all the decorating ideas I have!

I am creative in many ways besides my digiscrapping! I crochet - especially items for my daughter's American Girl doll. I do a little sewing. I'm learning to love cooking and am slowly catching on to how to be creative in the kitchen!

I love playing with buttons. I make button necklaces and recently button ball ornaments. So fun!

Great watch!
I love to do window color (christmas is such a great theme for such a craft) and I love making christmas tree ornaments with the kids in my class.

Leora, I didn't know Christy was your sister! I bought some of Scarlet Lime's first kits back in my paper scrapping days - they are delish! To answer your question, I love to knit. I am just starting a project for myself. After years of knitting I just realized that I've never made something for myself.

GREAT idea for the watch!!! And I love hearing about other artists! I LOVE to quilt and hope to pass on a history of quilts to my children!

Oh, these are beautiful. I have loved crafts since I was a little girl and there is very little I haven't tried. Now, aside from scrapping, I create miniature teddy bears and I love to bead intricate things like peyote stitch amulet bags.

Very awesome watches!! I have several things I like to create, beaded jewelry, knitting projects (my latest learned craft) and my all time favorite, but I haven't done in a while quilting!! I want to learn how to crochet beads into bobby socks, I always buy them at craft shows, my girls love them, great craft Victoria!!

Creating food in the kitchen is another hobby of mine. I love to experiment with recipes!

Cool watches.

I love to bake and cook. I love not following a recipe exactly...adding something that I think would be a great addition...sometimes it works well and sometimes it doesn't. Lately it has been New York Cheesecakes...YUM! I also love to cross stitch, crochet, quilt.
Thanks for the opportunity.

Rebecca aka MamaBee said...

When I cook is what another way I create... I may use a recipe as a base, but then I have to add my own special touch by adding ingredients and spices. My poor DH... if he really likes something, he may never get it again... LOL!

The bead watches are something I've wanted for a long time...I'll have to check out their website.

I love to be crafty, I've done necklaces and bracelets, handstamped cards, cross-stitch, and I love to sew.

Lbrtychic said...

Super cute. I love them.

I also love to sew, blankets, bags, key fobs, quilts, pj's...anything fairly simple. I just love to be creative.

ooh - I love to sew, and do paper crafts with my girlfriends - it's so much more fun to do sonething TOGETHER! I'm really really really needing a new watch - my clasp keeps coming undone and dropping off all over creation

I really love making all kinds of crafts. I get together with a group of girls once a month to make stuff. We sew, modge podge, make jewelry... Just about anything! So fun!

Besides, digital scrapping I've been into baking cupcakes in different flavors, playing with fun decorations, and trying lots of yummy frosting.

I have lots of interests besides digital scrapping! Art journaling and bookbinding are my 2 current interests. I have a 12-year-old niece that loves to do those things with me! Love those watches! Thanks for the chance to win!

I can't believe I missed out on entering yesterday's giveaway! Where was my brain???? ;)

What beautiful pieces of art your sister has put together! I guess creativity must run in your family, huh? :) Other than digital, I love to make cards and hybrid projects because I have so much fun creating something to give to someone else. My mom and nieces are usually the main recipients of all my craftiness! :)

I like to sew. I don't do it much now with a little toddler around. I remember one Christmas, I made stockings for a bunch of my relatives. Every one was different. I think I made 13 stockings that year. I loved seeing them all lined up next to each other, and I think that was my favorite project of all time.

I am definitely a cook. Not a baker, a cook. Love to make good, healthy-ish dinner for the family.

I love to cook and bake! Especially now that my 2 oldest are old enough to help, baking for birthdays and holidays has been so much fun.

WOW! What an awsome giveaway!! I would love to win this! THANKS for the chance to win such a wonderful gift!!
One thing I like to create is amazing photos of the beautiful butterflies that visit my flower garden in the summer (missing them now!). I also take tons of pics of the hummingbirds and flowers in my garden. Then I will use these pics for birthday cards.
I once took pics of my mother's flowers in her garden then used the pics for her birthday and mother's day cards . . . SHE LOVED IT! :)

Lately I have been loving the "mini album". I can capture one fun memory and gift them much more often-plus they use up my scraps!

My other favorite past-time is cooking, well actually, it's baking!

Beautiful watch art! Funny thing, I was just saying on Monday that I'd like a new watch for Christmas :) My other passion? Outside of digi-scrapping? Creating cards! Yup. Good stuff. Messy. Fun.

Loved hearing about your family tradition, something I would love to do with my own.:) Need more RAK in our world today..

Anyways, thank you for sharing about your sister and this wonderful giveaway!

The one other thing besides scrapbooking that I absolutely love to do is make cards & bake cupcakes! :)

Leora, first lemme give my deepest condolences to your friend's family as well as yourself. I went to their journal and it tore me up. (((huge hugs)))

Secondly, I love hearing about your tradition...wow so humble, you rawk!

....and last, what do I love to do aside from digital scrapbooking?... I am artist. Went to school and got a degree; therefore, I love to sketch/draw/paint, which also includes digital painting. It's another creative outlet that allows me to relieve stress and truly enjoy what I'm initially creating.

More ((hugs)) and prayers for your loss. A hard time of year to lose someone. She sounds like an amazing young woman who touched many.

That's so neat that you and your sister are so fabulously crafty and talented!!

Once upon a time I was a paper scrapping girl myself, though admittedly not a very good one, lol!!

As for other things I create. I love to bake and cook! And I'm also really falling in love with photography.

Sorry for the news of your friend's daughter, so sad.

I had no idea Christy is your sister, I love Scralet Lime! I paper scrap and am learning to knit.

I love making bookmarks for friends and family. I'm also learning to knit so it seems everyone will be getting a scarf this year.

I am a gardener. I don't think there is anything in the world that can be more satisfying than watching what looks like dead earth take form with a bit of sun and water (and maybe a bit of luck). Oh yes there is much more but I love nature and creating beauty with it.

Cate Brickell said...

gorgeous watches! I'm a baker of sweet stuff, so this time of year is my favourite in the kitchen!

Yanina said...

I love to create beautiful moments with my family. I am always looking for fun, new things to do together. Thanks!

Denise said...

Love the watch art!

It's hard to choose what I love to do most (after digi scrapping of course) ... beading and sewing and crocheting are all right up at the top!

Ginger said...

I love making collages! Using lots of stuff and cutting and pasting! Fun!

Krista said...

(((hugs))) to feel better and prayers to all she touched. What an extraordinary young woman! I love how Caring Bridge works... I really feel like I got a glimpse at her courage. She is very inspiring. This is such a difficult loss for a family. Prayers their way.

I love your sister's creations! WOW what a great idea!

I love to quilt, which is really just all tied in to why I love to scrap. I need to put colors and patterns together in different ways. For me it is more about picking my fabrics and imagining the end product, than it is actually making the quilt LOL...

Newtty said...

I love to bake. I have a chicken pot pie that when I make it I have to bake 5 of them.
I also love to sew. I am making my youngest granddaughter an outfit as one of her Christmas presents.
I agree those watches are wonderful

Leora, this is so fabulous that I HAVE to comment!! just WOW!
And I didn't know about your sister, that is some creative family you belong to ;-)

I love to cook, although I don't do it that often anymore.
And I love photography.
