Can't believe that Christmas is less than 18 days away. At this point, NO shopping has been done, but I'm the procrastinator-type. I'm the crazy mom who is pushing her cart recklessly through the isles of WalMart (cuz their open 24/7), mumbling the same, un-kept promise as last year...to NEVER put it off this late again. At least last year, at this point, I had a few gifts. This year I really can say that I have NONE!! Oh well..it always gets done and the morning always arrives and the wrapping paper always flies and the kids always seem content. There's always next year...
I've had an eventful few weeks. I finally have a diagnosis (as subjective as it is) for my vertigo problems that I have been dealing with for the last 4 years. The most recent epsiode (it started the very day of my last blog post) lasted for 7 days. It wasn't as bad as one I had 4 years ago, though. No hearing loss and the vertigo was not bad enough to make me vomit evertime I moved. I still couldn't do anything but just lay around, though. It's not so easy to drive when the road won't hold still. I went to an ENT specialist and the Dr. said that it's NOT Meniere's Disease (like we originally thought) but it's perylymphatic fistula. It's pretty much a hole in the ear where there shouldn't be one. This is good because it's fixable with a minor surgery-they just patch up the hole. There is no cure for Meneires, so this was good news to me. And what's even better, is that my hearing loss may come back after the surgery. The reason that I say that the diagnosis is subjective is because the only way to know for sure if I have this is by having the surgery...so I may get a second opinion before I schedule the surgery. In any event, it's nice to know something. I just kept putting off going in and I finally decided it was time to do something about it...especially since having vertigo can be very debilitating when you have it. I had to have a sub for 3 days of school and cancel all of my parent/teacher conferences because of this last episode. I am still trying to make them all up. So..that's what's going on with me. OH I did sprain my thumb last weekend and have had pink eye 3 times within the last 4 weeks. :) But it's all good! I have decided to lock myself up in a padded room where I can't hurt myself or get any infections from the germmy little kids that I teach!! :)
I have a kit to promote. A fellow teacher, as well as a dear friend, has a very sick daughter. She was diagnosed with myelodysplastic-basically this means that her body is not producing enough white blood cells. That usually leads fairly quickly to acute myloid leukemia. She had a bone marrow transplant this past fall. She has had her ups and downs of good days and bad days. Right now, it's a bad day. She is fighting pnemonia and is pretty sick. I wanted to help by making a kit for the family to help with the ever inccurring medical expenses. SO I made a mini kit and it's up now at Little Dreamer Designs. If you don't digitally scrap and want to help out, you can email me and I'll let you know how you can!
Here's the link in the store and the preview:

That's all from me for now. I hope everyone is doing well and getting into the spirit of Christmas. It can be difficult when all you see on T.V. is depressing news about our failing economy. It really helps if you can figure out a way to help someone in need. There are so many little things you can do that really doesn't even have to cost you money. I was so inspired by one of my students who is taking on a service project all on her own to help raise money for some needy kids in our town. Look within your community to see what can be done...even if it's just your time that you can donate.
Just give. :)
Happy Holidays!!

Girl, it's so good to see a blog post from you! My older son (6 now) has had a hole in his ear drum for a at least 3 years now. They waited until he was 5 to go in and fix it with surgery, and the patch didn't take, so now we have to do the surgery again this spring - not fun! But, I am very glad to hear you have something fixable! Take care!
