TGIS..is it time for another give away??

Thank goodness it's Saturday!! :) Don't get me wrong, it was a good week at school, but I always love the weekends because it means family time. Last night, I got to go to dinner with my hubby and this morning it was breakfast at IHOP (Paige just loves that place...me, not so much) and then couch shopping. Tonight? We'll probably watch some movies. We have The Hangover (soooo not for the kids) and Tinkerbell.

Thanks for the suggestions on the printing. I am really excited to have this project going, but I am one of those instant gratification kinds of people. I want the end product NOW!! LOL.

Here are my photos from the last few days. Tomorrow, I will post the week's layout with all of the photos..

OKAY..let's do another mini give-away! How about you post about how you organize your photos (since this something that we may ALL need, especially if we're participating in the P365 or P52). This is one area that I'm REAALLLYYY lacking in. I'm not consistent in how I organize my photos (unless they are photos for a client) and I want to start this year off right!

POST a comment about how you organize your photos and you will be entered to win $5 to my store. I will hold the drawing a week from today (so Sat. 16th).

For project 52 I will flag as I edit and save to a folder just for the project. Then I'm sure I will second guess and keep adding pics until it gets out of hand. Need help!

I'm trying to do a photo per day. I have a folder started for the Month. Every few days I edit my photos and just save them by day1, day2, etc. I save a copy of the edited photo and a smaller one in a frame like you are showing yours : ).

First year trying this...

i use the same method as Missy. I put the photo choosen fir the P365 in a special folder. But i don't rename my photo because they already have a name as "pict1205" and it is chronological ranked in the directory. Otherwise all my photo are in foder with the good month name (and little description : vacation X or birthday from Y....)

I just have folders sorted by date taken... I wish I had it better organized though.

I generally organize by date, but I'm hoping that Lightroom will change my life. I have begun grouping photos into collections and am on my way to applying keywords liberally so I can go back and find things.

I organize folders of photos by date - Example today's photos would be in a folder labeled 2010 1 9(then I write the activity or something pertinent to those photos.)

I put all of those folders into a years folders(ex - 2010).

This has worked the best for me!!!

my photos are organized by year, then month, then day- and i add a little caption like "new moon movie" to remind me what the pictures are of. Lightroom makes it very easy. For my 365, i'm actually posting to a blog each day. That the end of the year I can use blurb.com and have my blog printed as a book- Voila! Instant 365 scrapbook! (of course I end up digiscrapping most of the pictures too! Is this overkill? Ha ha.)

I'm not doing P365 etc. I organise into folders either by content if the photo is of things I have made or by date otherwise. If I have a chunk of photos from one event like a wedding or holiday then I create a folder for that event within the folder for that year.

I organize all my photos by month unless it is something significant that needs it's own folder like p365, or a special photo shoot.

My everyday photos are organized by categories: family, trips, special occassions etc. I keep the original file "as is" and then sort to category. Under Project 365 I have folders for each month and labeled by day (Jan 1, Jan 2 etc.)

I store mine by date downloaded as they already are set up that way by the software.

I got all my photos saved like this

Year
Month
Date
And some times where we have been.

This has worked for me for last years P365, so I´ll continue doing that.

Good luck to you, with saving your photos

I'm pretty simple, sorted by year, month, then day with a description in the folder title as to what in there... last year it worked pretty well...

I sort my photots by day. Each day I take photos they automatically are sorted that way with the LUMIX software I have. Some of them I add more detail too.

sort by month and year nothing too fancy!

I have my photos (mostly) organized by month ... I'm actually working on the 'organizing' part more as I type! ;) I name them all when I download from Adobe Bridge, so it makes it heaps easy to find the pics I want anyway... date_name_number. Sooo many pictures! I don't make a special folder for the P365 because all these extra folders are driving me nutty. Ha ha!

My photos are organised by year/month/date, but then I have a habit of dropping them into new folders based on when I backed them up (just easier for me to see which dates are not backed up). I desperately need to become more organised and I've tried both lightroom and Bridge without any consistency so far, so I'll read all posts hoping to get some new ideas :-)

My photo folders are in years and then each photo is dated so I can see at a glance what day they are - I am trying to do a page a week so that I don't need to put the unsorted P365 photos in a separate folder - I have WAY too many folders already - but once the weeks page has been saved I will keep it in my official 2010 P365 folder - hmmm its sounds rather complicated rofl

I organize my photos by date but then I got some software from Creative Memories which automatically reads the camera date, so it organizes it that way and then you can add tags similar to photoshop elements.

I organise my photos in Photoshop Elements Photo Manager by tagging them according to who's in it (Each family member has a folder, then extended family members are put in family folders, then friends are bunched altogether). I also tag big events, like weddings, 60th birthdays etc. in events folders. I must say though, that if I don't tag each time I empty my camera's XDcard onto the computer, it can take a while to catch up! They are displayed on screen in chronilogical order, so that makes my project 365 easy.

i was just thinking yesterday that i need a better system...right now, they are just organized by day/month/year...and although that works, i feel like there might be a better way.

Well, in general I organize my photos by uploading them to Lightroom, then editing and exporting them to folders by date (to scrap). So now that I'm doing Project 52, I export them to my Project 52, week 1 (etc.) folders.

I download my photos into folders by date first. Then I rename them leaving the date but adding some details about what photos are in the folder. I then burn all to a dvd at the end of the month. I also back-up to an external hard drive.

I am a lot better with photos than digital scrapbooking items. LOL! I have Lightroom and keep everything in one "Lightroom" folder. Inside it are my sub-folders. I have a "Family" folder and then have sub-folders by month/year. This way I can find everything easier.

All my photos are put in folders by the month/year inside that folder is the number day of that month. Unless it is a event then that folder inside of the month/year is named.

My photos are organized by year, month, day, and then I attach tags to every photo so that I can easily pull up all the photos with that particular tag attached. I don't know where I would be without tags! I also have the Photoshop Elements Organizer that you can retrieve all photos by what is written in the file. Love the organizer, too.
Thanks for the chance at a giveaway

I organize my photos in a "year folder" then inside it I put other folder with a date and name (like "december-christmas", "june-holliday")... and then I don't rename the photos because they all have a single name ....

I organize my photos by year, month, and activity if there is something specific, like soccer or horse lessons.
