Jessica was excited to let me do a practice photo shoot with her this past Sunday. It was a golden opportunity to spend time together and to get more practice at my photography. We were headed up to the mountains to get some fall foliage shots when we happened to come across a church that had some pretty trees. As we were getting out of the car, my eye caught site of this rustic, old barn. It was gorgeous against the backdrop of the blue mountains and gray sky, and the yellow and gold leaves were a beautiful contrast to the old, worn red paint on the barn. Right then and there I had to do it. I had to seize the moment. I looked at the barn and looked at Jessica and blurted out, "We have to get some photos of you by that barn!!!" She looked at me as if I were crazy. There was a gate around the fence and it was locked. Jessica must have read my determined face and sternly told me, "NO! MOM. You are NOT going to jump that fence." Ha...she should know me better. I'm a photographer on a mission. I quickly looked around to see if anyone was around and I saw the there were some people chatting across the street. *crap* What if they see me and call the police? I looked at Jessica, she looked at me and I gave myself a silent pep talk and then I did it....
NO, I didn't jump the fence. I walked across the street to ask the neighbors about the barn. I couldn't jump a fence to save my life. Getting older gives you nerves, I guess b/c I never thought I was ever capable of doing something so bold. (at least it was bold for me.) I never was one to be very forthright, especially to strangers. They were friendly and informed me that it was owned by an elderly woman who lived down the street. They were sure that she wouldn't mind. I could just lift the chain over the fence (it wasn't locked...it just LOOKED locked), as long as was careful to put the chain back on when I was done.
*sigh* I seized the moment....and these were the results.

I also have to share one of Paige...this was taken the day before when I received about 5 inches of snow (near the mountains...about 3 inches in the valley). By the time we went to do Jessica's shoot the next day, there was only snow left on the mountains.

and finally, one of Ashley and her teammates when they played a soccer tournament in Jackson Hole a few weekends ago.

Enjoy the rest of your week!!
